Dutch Rummers
Geboren in reis. Born in voyage…
Introduction
Dutch Rummers, from Mallows Distillery, is a range of bold, dark rums made according to methods first employed by the Dutch settlers in Brazil — invoking the spirit of the original Dutch Rummers.
At the beginning of XVII Century, Holland was the most modern and technologically advanced country in all of Europe. In those years, the Dutch were the pioneers of commercial distillation on a large scale. The Dutch West India Company occupied the coastal region of Pernambuco, now Recife, in Brazil, a great producer of sugar. The Company made great investments, bringing from Holland men, capital, technical skills and equipment.

Character building
Rum has an image problem; its reputation as a cheap mixer belies its complex character. Rum’s aged variants can play in the ‘discernment’ space occupied by Cognac and single malt whisky, while its origins in the Caribbean and Latin America offer strong credentials of provenance.
With so many rich stories and history, there are few brands who can credibly build this into brand persona in the category. Rummers aim to capture that space by partnering with Dutch rum specialist E&A Scheer, to bring a new premium range of rums with strong heritage to the international market.
