Introduction
Launching in 2022, Ellers Farm Distillery (Ellers/EFD) is a new carbon-neutral distillery based in the naturally beautiful setting of the North Yorkshire countryside. The state-of-the-art distillery is one of the top three largest in the country, capable of producing 2 million bottles per year, and has been built with a sustainable mission at its core. Carbon-neutral since day one, and with an ambition to be climate-positive within three years, Ellers’ commitment to balancing people, the planet, and profit for the good of everyone has earned them a B Corp® accreditation. Oh, and Ricky Gervais is a co-owner.
Led by a management team with experience built working worldwide with brands, a fledgling Ellers appointed Limegreentangerine to help develop a brand strategy, engaging visual identity and house drinks range, creative support and Shopify e-commerce presence.

Destination brand
Set within a scenic enclave with sweeping north Yorkshire vistas, Ellers are committed to product excellence and sustainable practices. Each brand touchpoint we created anchors back to our brand strategy, underpinned by the platform ‘Good people, good by nature, always in good spirits’.
Working with typographer Simon Walker, we crafted a bespoke typeface, EFD Headline. It develops his retail typeface, New Forest, adding a textured, weathered finish, creating special nested letter pairs. Finally, a distinct house illustration style brings an earthy texture, depth and interest to the destination brand world.
Packaging & realisation
Supporting the destination is a range of house gins, liqueurs and a whisky; Small Batch Spirits, Y Gin, and The Bairn Collection. Distinct label shapes that echo the shape of the distillery building, illustration, and bespoke typography form part of a suite of brand signatures throughout. These complement the hero brand, Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, which stands alone and outside the EFD brand stable.
Signature house style
Printed on an ultra-tactile uncoated stock and finished with a flexo matt varnish, gloss tactile silkscreen, and hot foil gold, the labels extend the Ellers Farm destination brand visual. Through 3D realisation and animation, we brought these to life.
Turning fans into customers
Elegant in its simplicity, an easy-to-navigate Shopify site acts as a fast online storefront. Housing the suite of product brands, tour tickets, and cocktail recipes all whilst retelling the eco-narrative in a way that’s wholly intuned with a core purpose.
