Background

Cider maker James Pearce came to us and asked: how do we launch a genuine, natural, and classic-styled craft cider that feels premium, bucks the market conventions and leaves a mark on the competition? 

The core of this brief sought to reject typical staid category clichés — sweeping pruned orchards, impossibly perfect apples, tractors and dusty farmhouses etc — whilst also swerving the punky aesthetic craft brands otherwise roll with. We crafted a brand around a simple concept: ‘dolce vita cider
.’ This drove an elegant and timeless, understated aesthetic, beautifully classic in spirit and style.

We worked closely with James to craft the brand proposition and soul, identity, label design and visual messaging, applying finally to art direction of product photography and a Shopify website.

Crafted by one of the most renowned apple alchemists in the business, Kicking Goat Cider expertly blends 17 varieties of the finest cider apples available, grown on family-owned orchards.

 Both delicious and moreish, this is a proper, serious Somerset craft cider — big on flavour and a discerning, boujee sophistication. Already in a selection of some of the finest bars, pubs and restaurants in the south of England, expect big things from this little Billy.

Don’t follow the herd

Freshly-pressed real cider, made with care, quality and refined in small batches with a flavour-first focus — what goes in matters. Seriously crafty, Kicking Goat is all apple, no kidding. Complex in creation, simple in enjoyment.

The project went on to win both Gold and overall Trophy for Design & Packaging (Product Range) at the 2022 Drinks Retailing International Cider Challenge awards.

The LGT brief was to create an attitudinally very different cider brand to anything in the market; LGT smashed this! We knew we had a great product but saw a real gap in a craft brand that bucked all the norms and provided a sense of genuine refinement and style.
