Insight into independent education today

Published by RSAcademics in association with Coutts, Ten Trends was the first study of its kind. The 2015 report, written for governors, heads and other school leaders, provides facts, insight and commentary on ten factors and shifts shaping independent education in the UK.

The 200+ page report is compiled from a variety of sources including RSA’s own extensive original research, expert interviews and authoritative commentary.

RSA approached us to create a visually-rich and pacey printed document, eventually to be sold for £65 each. Extremely well received, work is underway on the 2017 edition.

Making the cover

In crafting a distinct cover to create real intrigue and shelf appeal, we shot thick cardboard, contorted into numerals from above on high. A punch of bright light from a low angle on one side casts a long, heavy shadow to create an imposing, authoritative artwork.

Change the pace

Inside the document takes on a whole different tone, paced with each of the trends dressed up with its own styling, varying colour and type to image, illustration and graphic style. The result is a publication with a dynamic tempo that guides the viewer and avoids becoming bogged down in detail and depth, aiding swift navigation.

The publication has been very well received and we have had countless complimentary comments about the design. In what was a challenging project you approached it with unfailing good humour. Thank you for all of your hard work, we are delighted. Heather Styche-Patel, Head of Strategic Marketing & Research
